About us
MECOS AG is enabling our industrial partners to develop innovative applications in the fields of turbo machinery, motors and generators and smart electronics.
Our staff of more than 30 highly educated people develop and manufacture Active Magnetic Bearing technology and smart electronics for industrial use. We are covering every phase from concept through prototyping to serial production.

Start of research on AMB at ETH Zurich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology)
1988
Spin-off from ETH and company foundation
1993
First Turbo Expander installations
1997
First volume production of AMB systems for CO2 high-power laser blower
2007
Serial production of complete AMB spindle including motor drive
2011
First large turbo machinery installation (18MW)
2012
MECOS acquired by MAN Diesel & Turbo (Today MAN Energy Solutions)
2018
30 years’ company anniversary, HQ moved from Winterthur to Zurich

Series production started of our first stand-alone frequency converter
